I am not satisfied with something that "works", it also needs to look good. I will often continue working on a project until I am satisfied with both functionality and user interface.
I design and structure my programs with the end product in mind. By considering the UX/UI experience from the start, I ensure the product is functional and visually pleasing when I finish.
As a developer, learning how to do something is not enough, I want to know how it works. One of the most rewarding assignments I had was recreating C++ standard data structures such as list, queue, map and graph.
Professional Problem Solver
I believe in using my whole "tool box" to solve problems. I do not limit programming solutions to programming tools.
Applying my social work skills in development allows me to resolve issues with clients, team members, and even find solutions to user interface design problems.
When faced with a problem I cannot solve, I don't give up. I will leave the project but continue thinking about potential solutions until one is found. Even if the solution is unexpected or unconventional.
I am an excellent student. I graduated with honors from BYU with a B.A. Linguistics degree. I also graduated with a Masters of Social Work from Utah State.
I am a junior at BYU-Idaho studying Software Engineering. Currently, I have a 4.0 GPA.
Even when not in school, I cannot stop learning. My most recent non-school related project was using YouTube videos to build an apartment in the basement of my home.
